Mr. Fischer [link follows] gave me the idea for a seperate chamber in the aquarium [without gravel on the ground] to fed the fish. This has the advantage that sinking food morsels do not disappear into the gravel and add to the nutrient level; besides it makes cleaning easier. It also serves as an offer for an alternative habitation, an opportunity to chose according to personal preferences.
